Little Tokio in Düsseldorf

On May 26, Düsseldorf will once again be transformed into "Little Tokyo": Hundreds of thousands of visitors from Germany and abroad will flock to the North Rhine-Westphalian capital and enjoy Japan Day with its authentic Japanese programme mix of music, dance, sport and culinary delights. In addition to London and Paris, the Düsseldorf region is home to the largest Japanese community on the European continent. Around 7,000 Japanese live in Düsseldorf, around 380 Japanese companies are active in the Rhine metropolis - and Immermannstrasse, with its numerous Japanese shops and sushi restaurants, is more reminiscent of Tokyo than the Rhineland. No wonder that Japan Day - which is taking place for the 17th time this year - is so popular. And how could it be otherwise? The culmination is the brilliant fireworks display of the Japanese pyrotechnicians. You can find more information at: www.japantag-duesseldorf-nrw.de
